Sarah Rice1,2
F, ID# 772, b. 1782, d. 1782
Parents:
Father*: Zachariah Rice Sr.2 b. circa 1731, d. 19-AUG-1811
Mother*: Maria Appalonia Hartmann3 b. 4-SEP-1742, d. 6-NOV-1789
Mother*: Maria Appalonia Hartmann3 b. 4-SEP-1742, d. 6-NOV-1789
Birth, Marriage, Death, and Burial:
- In 1782, Sarah Rice died. Died in infancy. Pikeland Twp., Chester Co., PA, USA.1,2
- In 1782, Sarah Rice was born in Pikeland Twp., Chester Co., PA, USA.1,2
- She was the daughter of Zachariah Rice Sr. and Maria Appalonia Hartmann.2,3
Research Notes:
- RESEARCH NOTE: Abigail and Zachariah RICE children:
It is well documented there were two infants that died before Abigail Hartman Rice. The phrase, "twenty-one children were born, seventeen who lived to maturity; an on the occasion of Abigail's funeral, these seventeen walked in procession to her grave.
In March of 1789, Abigail gave birth to her twenty-first child, whom she and Zachariah also named Abigail. Following the birth of her daughter, Abigail Hartman Rice died eight months later due to complications from typhus contracted during the Revolutionary War.
While researching the detail for the other infant, an interesting revelation appeared in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Patriot's Service Part III listing of Abigail and Zachariah Rice's children.
On the DAR document, five names from the bottom is Sara Mary Engels Rice with a 1782 birth year married to Daniel Kabel. Other overwhelming evidence lists Maria Engel Rice born on 23 DEC 1766 being married to Daniel Kabel. So the latter was used, leaving the name of Sara unrelated to any child.
On the DAR document, nine names from the top is Sarah "Sally" Rice born 01 APR 1772 being married to John Wiemer. Other overwhelming evidence suggests Salome "Sally" Rice born in 1771, month unknown, married to John Wiemer. So the latter was used, leaving the name of Sarah unrelated to any child.
The remaining names on the Patriot listing match known Rice children.
There are no children called Sarah or Sara. However, both Sarah and Sara are listed on the DAR document; nine from the top and five from the bottom respectively.
Based on the above assumptions, the name of the unknown infant is being assumed to be Sarah born and died in 1782; based on Sara's birth year.2,4,5

Research Notes:
- RESEARCH NOTE: SOMENHERON, Germany — Zachariah's birth location:
Most historical documentation indicates SOMENHERON as being in the LOWER Palatinate region of Germany, primarily to the west of the Rhine River from the French border to the area south of Bonn, Germany. However, Somenheron cannot be found in that region, nor anywhere in current day Germany.
Below is a translation of an eMail from Erika von Briel regarding Somenheron not being found in Germany.
Date: 2015/03/07 17:21:24
From: Erika Von BrieleMail Source discourse.genealogy.net
Dear List Members,
About 2 years ago I had already started a request regarding the birthplace of Zacharias Reis. I had received some hints, but unfortunately all have fizzled.
Now I try again, because I was made aware again Sommerhausen.
I am looking for the birthplace of Zacharias Reis. He was born in 1731. Zacharias Reis emigrated to America in 1751 together with Johannes Reis.
The birthplace was deciphered with "Somenheron". This place does not exist in Germany.
A scan with the name "Somenheron" is unfortunately not available. According to my unconfirmed documents, Zacharias is the son of Johannes Reis (son of Martin Reis from Gundernhausen).
The American data are all known. The exact curriculum vitae of Zacharias Reis in America is known - only its origin is unknown.
I hope that the digitization of many data will give a new hint.
Maybe Somenheron is really Sommerhausen?
Thanks for any hints and
Great thanks from z. Zt. sunny Bodensee [Lake Constance] Erika (von Briel.)9 - RESEARCH NOTE: Abigail and Zachariah RICE children:
Based on the above assumptions, the name of the unknown infant is being assumed to be Sarah born and died in 1782; based on Sara's birth year.32,33,34
